Abstract: A high percentage of the products that we consume on a daily basis are localized, and, therefore, translated into our language. Something that probably started as a dubious marketing strategy has become a fundamental part of any merchandise and service. From the buttons and messages of our kitchen's appliances to the latest digital artifact that we can acquire on our favorite online website. All these items are properly localized so that they do can fit in our reality meeting our expectations as users and offering a fully satisfactory experience. Large companies know it and spend large amounts of money developing their products to potential markets. But how does it really work? Should not such a requested job generate a wide demand for localization professionals? In order to enter into the global universe of online localization projects, in this final dissertation we are exploring the localization process of an educational web tool named Serlo using Crowdin, a localization management platform.
