Abstract: From the documentary review made highlights the value of work, the centrality that work has for the person in his life as a critical element to the extent that the people who establish an identification link with work loss of work leaves them in a situation of helplessness, of uprooting. And, therefore, in these cases the loss of work would be a traumatic event that would incapacitate the person to face a situation of complicated processing at the psychic level and would make unemployment a type of loss that would introduce the person into a grieving process. That is, they lack enough symbolic elements to sustain themselves and give meaning to what happens in the immediate environment to think about alternative solutions to their situation. This would allow us to understand that unemployment is not only being able to work and not having work, but it implies a break in the social bond, the identifying links, of the social place that he occupied as a worker.
