Abstract: For all motorcycles over 125 cubic centimetres, Antiblocking system ABS is mandatory in the European Union (EU Decree 168/2013/EU). One in five motorcycle accidents could have been prevented if the motorcycle had been equipped with an ABS2. The present study is the core for the future development of an electronic control for ABS of single-channel, for low-cost motorcycles. The difficulty is to develop optimal control with a single reference signal, from a single wheel, without having other speed information. It has studied the characteristics of an ASIC, SB0401, developed by NXP, specific for electronic controls of ABS for motorcycles. It is an optimal device, which allows the microprocessor to be freed from the supervision of possible internal or external hardware errors. This device gives us a reliable and costeffective solution. The study may provide the foundation for future developments of a project ,hardware and software, based on the ASIC SB0401, controlled by a microcontroller of low cost, 16 bits or 32 bits.
