Title: Periodismo y Social Media: Estudio de la producción y las posibilidades narrativas de las videonews
Author: Sánchez García, Antonio Axels
Tutor: Martínez-Martínez, Silvia
Abstract: Journalism faces a new horizon with the emergence of informative videos adapted to consumption habits in social networks where it is possible to report in a brief, visual and even viral way in order to connect with younger audiences. In Spain, digital native media such as PlayGround, Vice or Eh! have seen in these journalistic products an opportunity to stand out in this new media ecosystem and attract the attention of millennial users. Likewise, traditional media have replicated this format of videonews in their digital strategy in order to catch the attention of the audience and search for new formulas on the Internet due to the increase in information consumption on mobile devices. The present investigation, which is based on previous studies on the analysis of informative videos on social networks (Argila, 2018, Zomeño and Blay Arráez, 2018), explores deeper the characteristics, contents and production of the videonews in the current digital context with the aim of knowing the keys of the evolution of the format to attract new audiences and their inclusion in the Social Media strategies. The cases studied are PlayGround, one of the pioneers in Spain that uses this format, and La Vanguardia, a traditional media that produces audiovisual content adapted to social networks.
