Title: Las TIC y la cibersoberanía en China: la base del presidente Xi Jinping para perfeccionar el control social maoísta
Author: Aribau Sorolla, Óscar
Tutor: Solé Farràs, Jesús
Abstract: This paper wants to analyze how the government of Xi Jinping is using ICT to increase the control that the Chinese government exercises over society, perfecting the system applied during Maoism. I will analyze how digitization, the blurring of the private sphere of citizens and the expansion of the public sphere, together with the creation of a digital market that is disconnected from the rest of the global market, is allowing the Chinese government to expand social control overcoming the limits of the private sphere of individuals, which even Mao Zedong himself could not have imagined. I want to demonstrate the hypothesis that, thanks to ICT, the CCP of Xi has managed to occupy the desired centrality in the life of citizens, and that its government can apply permanent social control in real time over all individuals, taking into account his idea of "once unreliable, always restricted".
