Abstract: This work intends to assess the effect of a Dog-Assisted Therapy (TAP) program, with a patient with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) institutionalized in a nursing home in Barcelona. The therapy consists of 7 sessions, 2 sessions per week of 50 minutes of duration. A total of 8 users with moderate phase of dementia (GDS4-5) participated in the group intervention for a month. At the beginning of the therapy, the patient's assessment was performed through standardized neuropsychological, emotional and functional tests. At the end of the sessions, the same tests will be administered adding the Measuring of Pet Intervention Scale (MOPI), which allows to assess through the observation the effectiveness of the therapy in the control of behavioral symptoms. The expected results in the neuropsychological assessment will be similar to those obtained in the initial assessment, but some improvement in the patient's behaviour will be expected, with an increase in smiles, physical contact and verbal communication encouraged by the presence of the dog.
