Abstract: The main objective of this work is to find out what treatment is given to foreigners, as enemies of the Egyptian state society, in certain primary sources of the Middle Kingdom, to establish the role of the "other" in consolidating the unity of the state and to find out if the vision of the "other" in the texts is unitary or shows differences. Therefore it is important to analyse the terms used to define foreigners and especially their determinatives. The answers obtained will also help us to find out how the Egyptians defined their own identity.
