Abstract: Researches of sustainability in the touristic supply chain have been focused mainly on destinations, tourists and hospitality, with less incidence on other suppliers or stakeholders. Travel agencies are a key component in this gear and their position in contact with consumers and suppliers give them a significant role in the development of sustainability. The present essay, through a sample of 96 agencies, analyses the state of the art among Basque retailers, associating sustainability with the start-up of the corporate social responsability in the firms, examining the reasons for this implementation, the purposes, the barriers and the achieved results, confirming that the personal factors are those which more encourage managers. Furthermore, relevant conclusions are obtained in the analysis of travel agencies reintermediation and disintermediation which is inducing significant changes in the traditional supply chain.
