Title: La educación, el matrimonio y la maternidad espartana
Author: Medina Caballero, Cristina
Tutor: Gómez Espelosín, Francisco Javier
Abstract: The domestic world of the Greek woman in antiquity has been an isolated subject or one considered of little interest by the classical authors. Little by little, especially since the second wave of feminism, research related to women in antiquity has increased. The objective of this work is to study the daily reality of the Spartan woman through the image that appears of them in the ancient sources. The main problem is the origin of the sources since the vast majority are from Athens, one of the great rivals of Sparta. Due to the need to contrast them, as long as they could have been manipulated because of the tension between the two polis, the methodology that has been followed has been the comparison between the situation of women in Athens and in Sparta, all contrasted with some archaeological elements, which sometimes refute theories found in literary sources.
