Title: Manejo nutricional perioperatorio: revisión bibliográfica
Author: Pellejero Jiménez, Rocío
Tutor: López Mesa, Mario Manuel
Abstract: Malnutrition is associated with a higher risk of mortality, post-surgical complications and prolonged hospital admission. A high percentage of patients undergoing surgery undergo malnutrition. Surgery is an aggression for the patient that triggers a metabolic response to stress, ending with insulin resistance, also increased by long periods of fasting. The objective of the work is to identify the characteristics and requirements that perioperative nutrition intervention requires as part of the multidisciplinary treatment, to prevent post-surgical complications and adverse events derived from nutritional management, in order to foster an effective recovery of patients undergoing surgery.
