Abstract: The final grade project Plane Survivor is a 2D platform game created with Unity (version 2018.2). The objective of this project besides the game itself is the planning and documentation of the different stages during its development. The game is about a pilot who crashes his plane inside a volcano and must escape from a distinct range of dangers provided in the level, for example a rising lava, enemies, spikes or even falling stalactites, besides the platform challenges themselves in order to advance. Because the creation of a game requires a lot of time and we only have 3 months for this project a few decissions were taken before the beginning in order to focus the scope: only one level will be created, Unity will be the engine used and 2D will be the graphical choice. The Unity choice is due to Unity itself being the most known free game engine with lots of documentation available online and prior to this project the knowledge for creating a game was non-existent, the same reason can be applied to the 2D choice. The final build is a simple game where many mechanics have been introduced, a rising lava as a main focus to give a sense of urgency to the player where the rest of the elements are different obstacles to our goal: survive and escape from the volcano.
