Title: Bioestadística aplicada en restauración ecológica: análisis de casos en paisajes andinos degradados de Colombia

Abstract: In Colombia, the ecological restoration is a practice that has been growing in the last decades and despite the fact that Colombia have athe last decades and despite the fact that the Colombia have a National Restoration Plan, the initiatives are scattered, with low budget for the evidenced needs, limited specialized scientific teams and insipid development of its body of scientific knowledge to address the diversity of ecosystems and existing degradation scenarios. Thus, one of the great challenges is to validate the body of knowledge required to optimize resources and efforts through an appropriate identification and application of biostatistics tools to solve research problems in ecological restoration. We explore here -through the use of the R programming language- various methods of statistical analysis applied to the generation of knowledge in the ecology of restoration in the northeastern Andes of Colombia, with emphasis on three aspects: a) the effectiveness of the nucleation technique; b) the restoration approach through functional groups of plants; and c) the analysis of plant-animal relationships; determinants in the evaluation of the effectiveness of ecological restoration processes in their early stages of development over abandoned pastures in degraded Andean forests.
