Abstract: HIV infection has experienced an increase in its prevalence during the last decades. HIV patients experienced physiological changes related to fat mass, lean mass and bone mass, causing a reduction in their quality of life. This situation is reflected in a rise of development of cardiovascular diseases, as well as an increase of muscular injuries and a high probability to suffer bone fractures. All of them are related to a quicker aging associated with a decrease in immunology system functionality. A good comprehension of HIV pathology allows researchers to develop solutions in order to improve the quality of life of all these patients. For this reason, the aim of this final MSc project, related to Statistical Bioinformatics, consisted on find which variables are related to the physiological changes mentioned, besides which kind of body changes experience these patients in a long term. For this aim, multivariate statistical methods such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA) and Multifactorial Analysis (MFA) were used during the development of this project, due to their ability to illustrate in scant dimensions all the information storage in a big number of variables. R programming language was used to apply all these statistical methods.
