Abstract: The main objective of this work has been to know what the daily life of anonymous people was like through the documentation produced by one of the organizations where the popular establishment participated, such as the municipal councils prior to the New Plant Decree. The first part of the work has been dedicated to expose the history and operation of these councils, taking as an example that of the city of Vic, both for the importance of this city in medieval and modern times and for the ease of access to its files where this documentation is deposited. In the second part, and in order to narrow down the subject of the investigation, the trajectory of one of the people who participated in the day-to-day life of this Council has been chosen at random, choosing as an example the merchant Salvador Molera, who was member of the Council during the first thirty-five years of the seventeenth century and who held various municipal offices and offices. Through the correspondence that he sent to the city during the exercise of his position as trustee sent to Barcelona on behalf of the city, and with the help of the Books of Agreements where the minutes of the convocation of the Council are recorded, both documents kept in the Municipal Archive of Vic, it has been possible to find out approximately what were the concerns of the ordinary people of the time and the decisions that were taken to solve them. Finally, and due to its interest as unpublished documentation, 10 of the letters have been chosen and the originals and their transcription have been incorporated in the Annex of the present work.
