Title: Diseño en tecnología GaN de la etapa de potencia de un transmisor para el sistema de navegación aérea ADS-B

Abstract: Air traffic has been continuously growing over the past few years. Given the obvious limitation of airspace, the need for air navigation systems which allow an optimal management of all that traffic is becoming more and more relevant. One of these systems is the ADS-B, which will help to provide real-time aircraft positions and therefore to reduce the distance between them. The objective of this Master Thesis is to design the power stage for the ADS-B transmitter installed onboard using Gallium Nitride based transistors, since this semiconductor presents several advantages against others, such as Silicon or Gallium Arsenide. Two candidate designs have been developed as a result of this Master Thesis. The power stage complexity has been reduced through the use of Gallium Nitride, that allowed to eliminate completely the preamplifier stage. The simulations conducted have proven that both designs are suitable for an onboard ADS-B transmitter, achieving the goals initially set for this Master Thesis.
