Title: El tractament de la prostitució als mitjans de comunicació
Author: Porcuna Rafael, Elisabet
Tutor: Clua, Anna
Abstract: This work focuses on the qualitative analysis of the journalistic treatment of prostitution in the media. Specifically, it studies why the newspaper and the digital media, as part of their journalistic responsibility for the inequality in the treatment of information, do not contribute to undoing the stigma that is surrounding the group of prostitutes, who are at risk of social exclusion. This analysis is based on a list of recommendations on the trafficking of prostitution and human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation in the media, promoted by the ABITS Agency of the Barcelona City Council in collaboration with the Association of Journalists of Catalonia and presented in 2015. The aim of these recommendations is to promote journalistic accuracy in the processing of information on prostitution and the trafficking of human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation in the media. Finally, this work aims to obtain relevant information by means of qualitative interviews with professionals in the sector, who will guide us on their experience and perception in the treatment of prostitution in written form. What journalistic routines are currently being applied and why these recommendations are not being followed.
