Abstract: Surgical processes consume a large amount of resources of the health system, therefore new formulas are sought that allow them to be made more efficient. One of them is real-time location systems (RTLS) that allows exact traceability of the entire process. In October 2018, the implementation of a tracking system was carried out in the surgical block of the Val d'Hebron Hospital (both in the general hospital and the CMA). This has required the definition of the steps that make up the surgical process and the points of information collection through the "tag". Subsequently, the efficiency of the system is evaluated by comparing the recorded times (stay in the surgical area, operating room and surgery time) in the months of January and February 2018 (preimplantation) with the same months in 2020 (post-implantation). We also want to assess the satisfaction of professionals with the system through a survey. In 2020, a significant increase in the number of procedures performed was observed (p <0.005), especially in eye, otorhinolaryngological and gynecological surgery. In the recorded times, a decrease is observed, in the general hospital the decrease is around 25 minutes and in CMA 3 minutes (p <0.005). In the case of the surgical area time, an increase of 34 minutes is observed. The satisfaction survey is still pending.
