Title: Cuidados paliativos oncológicos desde la perspectiva de trabajo social sanitario en el domicilio
Author: Martínez Laredo, Antonio
Tutor: Caamaño Ponte, José Luis
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to understand the role and function of Health Social Work in the field of palliative care, specifically in home palliative care support teams, from within the interdisciplinary team and in the intervention with patients and families. Furthermore, we study what palliative home care is, the different existing modalities (palliative home care support teams, palliative home care units, home hospitalization and home emergencies), the factors to access them, the preferences of patients and families and the advantages and risks of palliative home care, which will generate a series of biopsychosocial needs (biophysical, psychological, social and spiritual). And the process of transition to the end of life and mourning stage is investigated, interfering in the needs that are generated at an individual and group level. For this, the presence of Health Social Work in the interdisciplinary teams is necessary to intervene before and after the death occurs, because it produces a better adaptation to the situation. To this end, a bibliographic review was carried out, with a sample of 28 documentary sources, giving rise to this qualitative-descriptive study.
