Abstract: Simone Weil and Bertrand Russell had defended pacifist positions, but in the face of Nazism they justified the war. Certain elements of reflection have been detected in this change of attitude: the importance of the media, language and the psychological side of power, construction of the enemy by the media and the political implications of individual and social actions before the state.
