Abstract: | HAVC systems have a high energy cost, because they work over an entire floor of a house or, in some cases, over all house. However, it is normal to use only a part of the house, and ideally, HAVC could only work over that zone. This work covers that need, using motorized gates to regulate air flow that reaches to each room (zoning), and controlling main HAVC system. In addition, management is done using HomeKit home automation system developed by Apple Inc., which allows to interact with the system using any HomeKit client device (iPhone, iPad, HomePod, Mac, AppleWatch ...), working with the integrations supported by this. The developed system is capable of maintaining, independently, and with a high comfort for the final user, target temperature in each zone or room, reporting to HomeKit environment about the changes that are taking place (temperature, working mode, etc.). Installation has been done on the top floor of a house, with 4 rooms, and results have been very satisfactory, because the new system has be able to reduce energy cost considerably. In addition, integration with HomeKit system gives an extra value, thanks to the possibility of interacting with other accessories that support this framework. |
