Abstract: | The research project "Glovo: lights and shadows" tries to answer different questions that arise from one of the current home delivery companies, which is revolutionizing the sector, both for its rapid expansion since the very beginning, and for its controversial way of working with independent delivery man. In the last few years, many companies have seen a future in the delivery sector seeking a position for themselves on this market. Uber Eats is the most downloaded home food application in the world. However, in Spain, they compete with Glovo, Just Eat or Deliveroo. Elsewhere in the world they compete with Grab, FoodPanda or Zomato among others. In the end, now the delivery is moving around 660 million euros per year worldwide and the forecasts estimate to reach 16 billion euros in 2023. In this project, we will focus on Glovo and analyse what differentiates them from their competitors to such an extent that many restaurants, after closure or time restrictions due to coronavirus pandemic, have opted for this start-up. From fast food restaurants like McDonald's to prestigious chefs like David Muñoz. |
