Abstract: Industry 4.0 is inside the range of solutions offered by Smart Cities. Smart Cities are cities that apply digitization and information and communication technologies, ICT, to provide more sustainable services to their citizens. The aim of this work is to design a solution for renewing and securing a critical infrastructure that supplies water and provides water purification of a city. Industry 4.0. is booming and changes in infrastructure and systems are necessary. Increasing the connectivity of industrial networks means a need for improvement the level of cybersecurity. Therefore, it is necessary to review the renewal and digital security of general industrial systems, and more importantly for critical infrastructures. In this work, a solution for the renewal and securitization of a critical infrastructure based on IoT networks is designed. A design has been made for a critical infrastructure in the urban environment, it is a chain of water supply and wastewater treatment. The solution describes the architecture of the IoT network and the specific hardware for securing it. In addition, the water level control process for the supply chain and the system that ensures the optimal level of chemicals for the treatment of wastewater is detailed.
