Title: Terrenys erms : analitzar les pràctiques artístiques digitals

Abstract: This paper looks at whether digital artistic practices really constitute a closed world and, thus, can be analysed on their own terms, or whether the study needs contextual analysis, relating them to their surroundings. In this case, possible surroundings would include contemporary art in general, which, indeed, has often quickly legitimated this type of practice. We need to ask, however, whether this fast track legitimisation has not highlighted the lack of knowledge and understanding on both sides. In the past, too many attempts were made to examine digital artistic practices self-referentially, without contextualisation and only in terms of this world itself, often reducing them simply to technical advances. The art world has recently legitimated these practices directly, leading to their suddenly forming part of museums. However, neither of these two options has led, in fact, to a true analysis as neither of them has allowed for examination of the context or of the actual repercussions these practices have in other ambits.
