Abstract: The slogan #22F, Equal Pay for Women and Men Day 2019, speaks clearly and highlights the need to claim a fundamental right: equality. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the situation of gender inequality and the associated wage gap in the world of work. The historical-cultural panorama of the gender issue has been considered, confirming its presence at the base of the educational system. Is it conceivable that a society can be adapted and engaged quickly and easily in scientific and technological developments and be incapable of intervening in social and cultural aspects? After a brief historical overview, the current situation is studied through the opinions of some protagonists in the publishing sector. An approach to the current legislative situation is then made to clarify its presence and effectiveness in this area. In addition to recalling the current situation of gender inequality, this study is expected to further stimulate conversations around strategic discussions that will compel us to resolve this issue that continues to smoulder today.
