Abstract: Nowadays, satellite positioning systems are used in a multitude of sectors, providing mankind with an immense number of applications and services, which were practically unimaginable a few years ago. However, the true reality is that most users do not know what is behind the service or application they are using daily, i.e., they do not know that a satellite positioning system is responsible for its operation. Much less do they know the different existing systems in the world and what to say about their history, structure, characteristics, applications, operation, among others, of each one of them. Hence, this project seeks to fill this gap of ignorance, going through each of the most relevant aspects mentioned above. In addition, it is intended to go a step further, describing the calculation of the parameters and values of a radiocommunications system, which are used for a ground station to properly comply with its operation in its transmission and reception channel, being able to establish satisfactory communications with a satellite. Then, a prototype type of ground station will be defined, where some defined tests will be carried out to characterize its performance, and its results will be subsequently analyzed. In short, the aim of this project is to give a global vision of the positioning system and to go deeper into it, until reaching its more technical aspects, which are essential to treat the communication adequately, thus allowing the correct operation of the defined system.
