Abstract: The space industry is a sector that is undergoing a growing evolution, driven by new challenges and the increasing participation of the private sector. It is a scenario that generates further needs in telecommunications networks and requires solutions for immediate and future problems. Extending the concept of the Internet to devise an interplanetary network promotes new technologies that adapt to the characteristics of space communications, where Delay / Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN) is the proposal for these networks in the Solar System. In this project, the proposal process of this architecture is detailed, and the route traced over the years until it becomes a viable technology. First, a sequential methodology is followed by understanding the chronological steps. In the second part, it works in a practical environment. Afterwards, the work deepening iteratively and incrementally in experimental software frameworks. Implementations and their characteristics are research, as well as their uses in test projects in real-life environments. Finally, ION - the DTN implementation developed by JPL / NASA - is experimented with, and it shows a testbed and emulation scenario, along with various analysis tools. The example has performed several testing and configurations. As a result of the project, it aims to convey the particularities of the DTN network and its use procedure in an interplanetary network scenario.
