Abstract: | Until before the appearance of the Internet and mainly social networks, one of the most widely used means of communication would be postcards. This way of sending messages has two main aspects, the first and most important, the text that we send to our interlocutors and the second, the image that we want to show to those same people. Over the years, postcards have undergone several changes in design and format. At first they were printed in black and white, later, with the appearance of the òfset, in colour. From the observation of the photographic postcards, this work aims to show how the upper Empordà municipality of Castelló d'Empúries has changed socially and economically. It also shows how the coastline of this area of the northern Costa Brava has been transformed with the birth, in 1967, of the Marina de Empuriabrava housing development. This is a journey based on an initial selection and subsequent analysis of some 250 postcards published during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The main objective of this work is to disseminate how these transformations of the people and the territory took place by publishing a book. |
