Abstract: The research of the present Master's Thesis is contextualized in an educational center in Vic (BCN). The object of study focuses on assessing the degree of self-knowledge that students of Professional Training have and how it influences the processes of studies and employment guidance. At the same time, it investigates the teaching and learning methodologies used by teachers so that students develop the skills that may be necessary for their training project, as well as for their job placement. For this reason, a theoretical framework has been developed that reflects the key concepts of research, regulatory aspects of the Catalan education system and previous studies and experiences related with the subject of study. The perspective in which the study is framed is interpretive and the methodology used is mixed so that to deal with information from the two research tools that have been designed. On one hand, online questionnaires were passed to students of three classes of Professional Training and, on the other hand, two interviews were conducted with teachers of Training and Labour Guidance and another one with an expert in guidance by competences. The results show that self-knowledge is one of the most important skills. Therefore, teachers believe that it is necessary to promote it through a diversified proposal of activities that become significant experiences making self-knowledge an essential starting point to guide the training and employment project.
