Abstract: | I was born with something inside me that I call a seed and when it germinated, has driven me throughout my life to search for my way of expressing myself, not only with words but also with images, with colors and shapes. During more than fifty years of existence in the world, this seed has been nourished by different compounds, substrates, thanks to the development of its roots that have allowed it to grow and evolve into what it is today. Because of the important role that the RAIZ has played in its evolution, since I had to leave mine in my adolescence against my will, I want to use it as the main subject of this project. I propose to carry out a study that will allow me to delve deeper into its meanings, that will take me from the past to the present. RAIZ is a journey in search of origins in general and consequences in particular, to understand who I am and why I am. An adventure in which to find the place of a woman artist without falling into feminism. It¿s a journey that investigates how it is possible to recover knowledge and getting new ones, in order to merge them all into a single way of doing things. RAIZ is made with the intention of working on self-affirmation from my point of view as an artist, defending multi-disciplinarity, collaboration and fusion as a natural method of creation. The proposal deals with issues such as how difficult it can be for an artist when she must to label herself, limiting herself to a single discipline or technique; when she tries to define her style or find her place. On the other hand, it shows the connections between nature and technology, the analogue and the digital, between language and art; sometimes hidden or imperceptible but intense and profound. The proposal is split into four parts, based on different concepts related to a root. Each of them results in a documentation that argue the project and they be materially demonstrated by being embodied in various artistic works. The project consists of the creation of a series of pieces made by combining different disciplines, some created in solo, others in company; using techniques that can range from watercolor to generative art, passing through assemblage, or even ¿sculpture¿. Thanks to my personal way of working with them in this project, they can all be included in the same technique that has changed the course of art since the avant-garde: collage. These works will be the milestones of our special walk through the RAIZ universe. In conclusion, RAIZ has born to show us the diversity of perspectives that can arise from the concerns of a single artist or, on the contrary, that several artists can come together to work on a single idea and thus support the statement that hybridization enriches the results. |
