Abstract: This paper focuses on the fictional case of a 75-year-old woman diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (AD). This disease is the most common neurodegenerative disorder associated with aging, and that is why the number of cases increases exponentially with the age of the population. AD has an insidious onset and gradual progression, characterized by cognitive impairment that advances to dementia and death, and it also affects the emotional, behavioral, and functional areas. Cognitive treatment techniques have been proven effective in slowing down the progression of the impairment. In conjunction with multidisciplinary work with other professionals to address neuropsychiatric symptoms and functionality, improvements in the patient and his relatives' quality of life are also achievable. For this reason, a neuropsychological evaluation protocol is administered to obtain the neuropsychological profile of the patient. This profile is characterized by alterations in the cognitive domains of orientation, language, memory, and executive functions, depressive and anxious symptoms, apathy, and functional impairment. Based on these results, a 6-month multidisciplinary and individual intervention plan is designed to stimulate cognitive functions to maintain them for as long as possible, reduce neuropsychiatric symptoms, promote a safe and solid family environment, and improve patient functional autonomy. There are three weekly sessions with the patient where cognitive techniques are applied, a monthly session of psychoeducation and support for the family, and a monthly meeting with other professionals.
