Title: Ciclo: un sistema de señalética para promover el uso de la red de carriles bici de València
Author: Belda Pérez, Mercedes
Tutor: Rodríguez Ramírez, Juan Antonio
Abstract: València –located on the eastern coast of Spain– was the first Spanish city to build a bike lane, in 1985. In recent years, there have been implemented a large number of bike lanes, expanding or complementing the original network layout planned three decades ago. Very engaged with the bicycle as a key asset for urban mobility and broadly with sustainability and environmental concerns, the City Council of València declared a state of climate emergency in 2019 and it incentivizes the use of cycling artifacts among its citizens. Valencia's weather and orography are great allies but mobility numbers describe a situation still having room for improvement. Given the present climate context, whose consequences are increasingly severe, how can design be a driving factor in disincentivizing the use of private motor transports and promoting the bicycle by attracting new users as well as fostering current loyalties? This Final Degree Project pretends to answer the question through a creative, functional and feasible wayfinding design solution.
