Author: Oliva Andrade, María Carolina
Tutor: Berger Mulattieri, Gonzalo
Abstract: This paper describes and analyzes a socio-cultural and political phenomenon that Chilean society is experiencing today: the conflict between the Mapuche people and the Chilean State. The approach is made from the point of view of five Mapuche Huilliche women from the Los Lagos Region, whose testimonies -collected directly through interviews-, give voice to subaltern subjects who have been silenced. Together with them, we reflect on the processes of subordination and resistance of this native people, questioning the notion of Mapuche People, the causes of the conflict, strategies used, claims, demands and possible ways of solution.
