Abstract: This research work identifies and evaluates the problems that impact on the loss of population and activity in the historic center of Orihuela. A battery of problems that could potentially arise in the case study is selected from those listed and analyzed in various previous generic research studies on the historic centers of Spain, and specifically of the Valencian community. In order to identify those problems that have an impact on the loss of population in the case study, a bibliographical review is carried out in different sources and a family of quantitative and qualitative indicators is designed which, when used together, allow us to identify and assess the severity of the problems, the key being the perception of these problems by the agents involved. The main conclusion of the work is that the recovery of the population in the historic center of Orihuela Orihuela's historic center is facing a combination of multidimensional problems, which present multidimensional problems, which present very heterogeneous characteristics in their spatial distribution within the Historic spatial distribution within the Historical Center itself.
