Title: Diseño e implementación de la base de datos para una aplicación de control de prácticas en empresas de estudiantes universitarios

Abstract: The objective of this work is to design a database that manages the relationship between the companies that offer an internship position, the universities that are part of the collaboration and the students that finish their university studies. The system allows companies to offer their placements, so that the university can see and offer these placements to students, who will decide which business relationship best suits their needs. At the end of the internship, all parties will be able to present an evaluation of their experience. A cascade methodology has been applied in which the objectives set in the planning have been met, with milestones of Requirements Gathering, Design, Implementation and Testing. A functional database is obtained, capable of performing both the common management in ABM processes (registrations, cancellations and modifications), as well as an analysis of the most relevant data that feed a statistical purpose by means of Data Warehouse techniques. This is carried out using the tools provided by the DBMS (Oracle XE 11G), such as: sequences, procedures, triggers or views. Creating the database has been a major effort, but the project management, planning, and monitoring of the goals set, has been a motivating challenge.
