Abstract: | The technological obsolescence of the current data centre of the Melilla Port Authority makes it urgently necessary to update it. The aim of this work is to address this technological update from a theoretical point of view, both in terms of the virtualisation infrastructure and the network infrastructure. Therefore, the work aims to justify the technological upgrade as well as to serve as a practical guide whose application targets the technical staff of the Port Authority's Information and Communications Systems Division, providing them with the necessary tools to understand the proposed hyperconvergence solution. The methodology of the final project of the degree is based on the waterfall methodology, i.e., consecutive, where tasks does not address simultaneously but linearly. On the other hand, this work includes the theoretical foundations of hyperconvergence where a specific solution stands out, the result of the research work conducted to find the most suitable solution, considering aspects such as the cost, time, and complexity of the implementation of the solution. The work is divided in three main blocks: the first aims to place the reader in the technological context of the organisation. In the second block, the best hyperconverged solution is proposed through an active search and analysis of the different solutions of the main competitors in the hyperconverged market, such as: HPE SimpliVity, VMware vSAN and Nutanix. Finally, in the third section, in conjunction with a theoretical and laboratory framework, attempt to establish a dependable guide to the various implementation tasks of the HPE SimpliVity solution. This work highlights the following conclusions: it is a project with a conservative approach to the choice of virtualisation platform; it achieves a significant improvement in disk storage compression and, finally, it is a comprehensive solution that perfectly combines hardware, hypervisor software (type 1 and 2) and the backup management solution. |
