Abstract: The continuous increase in traffic demand has challenged the telecommunications industry over the past decades, and the constant need for users to be increasingly connected to each other has been accompanied by the need to be connected to the environment. This has led to the development of the new 5G (New Radio) radio access network. This technology promises to improve the user experience with lower latency, higher speed and massive connections. In this paper, a detailed analysis of the fundamentals of this new 5G generation, its Non Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA) architectures, the operation of 'massive MIMO' and 'beamforming', as well as the characteristics of the most commonly used antennas for its development will be carried out. Finally, the different phases for the implementation of new 5G cells are explained and different use cases that corroborate the theory studied in this work are presented.
