Author: Márquez Almeida, Antonio
Tutor: SANCHEZ, IVAN
Abstract: The research aims to describe, reflect and analyze the negative effects suffered by the residents of a psychiatric institution, the repercussions of long-term institutionalization on people, and, on the basis of this denunciation, to provide an alternative model from the perspective of Social Education. This situation is often accompanied by overmedication, guided by a medical- psychiatric concept that stems from the structuring of care for the cure of different mental diseases and drug dependency. This description and critical reflection have been carried out using ethnographic techniques such as participant observation. The observation record is based on what happens daily basis in the institution "Stiftung Solina" in Bern, Switzerland. This ethnographic recording is supported by a conversation with employees from the medical and socio-educational sectors of the institution, which, together with an ad doc bibliographical research, have been decisive for the analysis and conclusions of the work.
