Title: Art contemporani i emergència climàtica a Catalunya
Author: Coromines i Calders, Gisela
Tutor: Bashiron Mendolicchio, Herman
Abstract: The work Art contemporani i emergència climàtica a Catalunya aims to find out how contemporary art works are able to raise awareness of the climate emergency. It starts from a theoretical framework based on contemporary philosophers such as Michel Serres, Bruno Latour, Félix Guattari and Donna J. Haraway, who provide fundamental concepts such as the natural contract, the relationship between science and politics, the deterritorialization capacity of contemporary art and the tentacular relations between species. A survey is made of the art of the last decades that has dealt with environmental issues, both at international and Catalan level. A selection of ten artistic works that were visited between the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023 in different art centers and festivals of the Catalan territory is made, which constitutes the corpus of the work and is analyzed to find its relationship with the ideas of the selected philosophers. Through a final conclusions chapter, the degree to which contemporary art contributes to mitigate the effects of the climate emergency is assessed.
