Abstract: Women’s bodies have been configured as containers of oppression and repression by teaching them to hide them and feel guilty. Traditionally, productive heteropatriarchal discourse in a capitalist context has speculated about female sexuality turning it both into an economic asset and a tool of control. This dissertation delves into the socialization of sex from a gender perspective and attempts to find the tools of control that punish female pleasure and make it invisible. This study stems from social constructionism and symbolic interactionism and aims at researching the possible re-signification of female sexuality within the context of dating applications. In order to achieve this, ten women aged 26-44 who are or have been users of dating applications were interviewed to try to find out the extent to which new relationship dynamics would allow sexual reappropriation. The critical reflections and experiences that appear in this work might challenge the establishment and encourage change, hoping to build new social, sexual, and affective horizons.
