Abstract: The existence of Grands Ensembles built in the post-war period that are now in decay is one of the urban planning problems facing many cities, especially in the Franco-Swiss context. In addition, mass migration to the cities produces an accelerated growth of urban areas. This constant expansion of cities in the territory requires the creation of new centralities where diverse activities and publics are concentrated, capable of generating and enhancing urban life. The Grands Ensembles are presented as a possible response to these challenges. The transformation of these architectures into new centralities can be a solution that responds not only to the problems of discrimination and segregation within them, but also to problems on a city-wide scale. In order to develop their potential, these complexes need to be inserted into the city in which they are located, not only physically, but also economically and socially. After a study of the context in which they appear and an analysis of reference cases as research tools, a path towards a study methodology has been developed to integrate these architectures into the city and this methodology has been applied to a pilot case such as the Grand Ensemble Les Avanchets in Geneva with a project that aims to turn it into a new center of urbanity.
