Abstract

Anàlisi del disseny dels principals diaris generalistes distribuïts a la província de Barcelona. Redisseny de El Punt Avui, el mitjà amb més punts febles detectats durant l'anàlisi.

Analysis of the design of the main generalist newspapers distributed in the province of Barcelona. Redesign of El Punt Avui, the paper with the most weaknesses detected during the analysis.

This project is divided into two main parts. An intial theoretical framework with an analysis of the current design of printed newspapers. And a practical part that will focus on the redesign of a newspaper. As a basis for the study, the main newspapers distributed in Barcelona’s province will be used. Typography, graphic resources, grids, composition, and cohesion of all page elements will be studied, as well as the order and the content’s structure. The objective will be to understand the design resources used by each newspaper in different sections and articles, thus achieving a solid foundation to make the best decisions for the second phase of the project. The practical part will involve redesigning one of the newspapers that exhibited the most identified weaknesses during the theoretical phase. The selected newspaper has been El Punt Avui, and the justification for this choice will be explained later in the report. From this point, the practical part will be developed, where we place ourselves in the hypothetical case where El Punt Avui’s board commissions us to redesign the print edition. The design should be atractive to atract new readers and, of course, to retain the current ones. The redesign of key pages from different sections will be developed to show how the final design will look like. The software used to create the layouts will be Adobe InDesign 2023.
