Abstract: | The main focus of this work is the economic and financial study of the company Inditex, S.A. during the period 2017-2021, through the analysis of its Annual Accounts and the sector in which it carries out its activity. This study has the objective of answering the following questions: How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected the economic and financial situation of Inditex? Has the textile sector evolved in a similar way to Inditex? The fashion sector, from 2019 to 2021, has been immersed in a global crisis caused by the Covid-19 virus, but even so, this sector exerts an important weight in the economy of the countries. This situation has paralyzed entire economies and has significantly reduced the growth that societies had been experiencing since the last crisis in 2008 called the “Great Recession”. As for Inditex, this emergency situation has forced it to temporarily close all its stores and intensify its electronic commerce by strengthening its online stores. It has also applied its strategy of reducing dividends to shareholders to strengthen its financial position by distributing profits to reserves. |
