Abstract: Introduction. Sports performance is influenced to a large extent by food, and this must be adapted to the type of sports practice. Basketball is an intermittent sport with specific nutritional and body composition needs, which must be met to achieve sporting success. Objective. Nutritional assessment of professional and semi-professional basketball players, as well as their body composition. Methodology. This is a cross-sectional study made up of a sample of 20 women, who were measured anthropometrically according to the ISAK model, and their intake was analyzed using a 24-hour reminder and a frequency consumption questionnaire. Results. All the players have an endomorph somatotype, although the professional players have lower fat and 6-fold sum values and higher mesomorphy. For dietary intake, both teams show similar results, observing a similar distribution between training and rest days and a deficit of iron, vitamin D and folic acid. Conclusions. The competitive level is directly associated with a better body composition and dietary intake; however, the athletes do not comply with the specific recommendations for the sport.
