Abstract: | Obesity and overweight according to the WHO "are defined as an abnormal or excessive accumulation of fat that can be harmful to health." Obesity has become a public health problem and has come to occupy an important place within the Sustainable Development Goals. Specifically, the second goal, "SDG2: zero hunger", which includes "ending all forms of malnutrition". In Catalonia, more than half of the population over 18 is overweight. As for the child population, 34.6% of children aged 6 to 12 years are overweight. Although preschool children have lower rates of obesity than the rest of the population, interventions to prevent or reduce childhood obesity should begin at an early age, since it is during the first five years of life when eating behaviors develop (9), they should be focused on improving healthy habits in a variety of settings. including the mother or main caregiver, due to the lack of autonomy of the children and include highrisk groups, such as children belonging to families with an unfavorable socioeconomic status, which are disproportionately affected. With the development of this intervention program, it is intended that preschool children together with their families acquire knowledge and skills on how to eat healthy despite being in an unfavorable socioeconomic environment. |
