Abstract: This thesis critically explores the implementation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) in Spain from 2013 to 2023, emphasizing the lack of visibility of competencies in the curriculum. The research revolves around the development of a prototype for an interactive data visualization tool that enables the representation of competency design in university programs. The interdisciplinary and multi-methodological approach, drawing inspiration from artistic research to problematize through situated practical work, allows for various derived reflections. On one hand, questions arise about the resistance strategies of a university compelled to be productive and neoliberal. On the other hand, it challenges the notions of learning and studenthood inherent in an increasingly datified education. Finally, the mechanisms of transparency and opacity in data visualization are analyzed as a cultural interface, whose metaphors manifest and produce a specific presentation of the world.
