ATDTEM. Aplicación de la tecnología Digital Twin en entornos militares

Abstract

En este proyecto se va a intentar estudiar la posibilidad de aplicar una tecnología, aún no muy desarrollada, llamada Digital Twin (en adelante DT), para representar modelos reales de entornos militares en un entorno virtual. Dicha tecnología se ha aplicado en muchos campos, pero aún de una forma muy teórica, sólo en algunos casos se ha desarrollado en modelos reales. En este proyecto se realizará una investigación profunda sobre los casos ya existentes y se intentará realizar algunas hipótesis de aplicación de la tecnología DT en entornos militares. Dentro de los objetivos o metas de esta investigación, podemos encontrar algunos como analizar la necesidad de la aplicación de esta tecnología en entornos militares, buscar información existente sobre la tecnología DT, analizar dicha información, intentar relacionar los avances existentes con el tema a trabajar o realizar posibles hipótesis, entre otros. La principal motivación del proyecto es la carencia de estudio de esta tecnología o similar en el entorno militar, entorno que necesita de este tipo de investigación, tanto para el ahorro de medios materiales, como el ahorro de medios humanos. Por otra parte, al ser un entorno donde existe un peligro claro cuando hablamos de situaciones reales, es muy deseable la realización de ejercicios, experimentos o pruebas virtuales con el fin de minimizar ese riesgo, sobre todo para las vidas humanas, que no tienen precio definido. Con los resultados obtenidos en la investigación se consigue aportar valor a los estudios ya existentes, aunque no sean en entornos militares y a la misma vez abrir el camino en este campo aún no muy desarrollado.

In this project we are going to try to study the possibility to adapt a non-very developed technology in order to build a virtual military environment from real ones. This technology, called Digital Twins (DT from now on), has been applied in many fields around the world. However due to implementation difficulties, more often than not, it has been a theoretical concept, only in some cases it has become a reality. An in-depth research will be carried out into the existing cases with a view to build hypotheses regarding the application of DT technology in military environments. Some of the goals of this research are, analyze the need for this application of this technology in military environments, search for existing data about DT technology, analyze this data, try to link developments with this research or realize possible hypotheses. The main motivation for this project is the lack of studies about this technology in military environment, due to this fact there are many savings to be made in material and human resources. On the other hand, it is very much to be hoped that exercises, maneuvers or virtual test, could reduce risks, especially when we talk about human lives. With the results obtained in the research, we add value to existing studies, even if they are not in military environments. At the same time pave the way in this still not very developed field.
