Given the current climate emergency and the global persistence of violence against women, ecofeminisms, with their transformational contradictions and virtues, continue to formulate academic proposals which, forged in eminently English-speaking academic contexts, aspire to creating a global impact. This study explores the reception of ecofeminisms in a non-English-speaking context by analyzing highly specific political materials: Catalan translations of essays on the climate crisis, feminisms and ecofeminisms. This exploration helps identify specific tensions experienced by ecofeminisms when initially taking root in political, social and academic contexts, with their own particular complexities, and expressed in a non-hegemonic language. From the Catalan perspective, we examine whether, under the shield of ecofeminist ethics that offer imaginaries of a sustainable and egalitarian future, institutions promoting them seek to domesticate the more radical and politically destabilizing forms of feminism, which, in the Catalan case, are anti-capitalist and pro-independence.en
