Abstract

La cuestión de la desigualdad de género en las instituciones museísticas representa una constante a lo largo de la historia del arte. A partir del desarrollo del movimiento feminista de segunda generación en la década de 1960, este tipo de realidades fue objeto de crítica pública. Este trabajo analiza un grupo de arte feminista activista llamado Guerrilla Girls que centró sus acciones en denunciar la discriminación de las mujeres artistas. Se explica el carácter del movimiento, sus bases ideológicas y sus objetivos a partir de su primera actuación realizada en 1984 en Nueva York. Guerrilla Girls ha sido un elemento de agitación en el mundo del arte desde una perspectiva feminista, innovando con nuevas maneras de expresión plástica de protesta hasta la actualidad.

The issue of gender inequality in museum institutions represents a constant throughout the history of art. Beginning with the development of the second-generation feminist movement in the 1960s, this type of reality was the subject of public criticism. This work analyzes a feminist activist art group called Guerrilla Girls that focused its actions on denouncing discrimination against women artists. The character of the movement, its ideological bases and its objectives are explained based on its first performance in 1984 in New York. Guerrilla Girls has been an element of agitation in the art world from a feminist perspective, innovating with new forms of plastic expression of protest to the present day.
