Y si fuera domingo: un viaje ilustrado

Abstract

Los domingos son esos días en los que el mundo interior se nos agita, nos muerde la melancolía y tratamos de ordenar los muebles. El paso previo a recomenzar la semana. Son tan tristes como necesarios. De alguna manera, son una analogía de como los domingos son un espacio propio, un viaje a nuestra memoria. Este viaje lo he volcado en un álbum ilustrado en el que letras y dibujos de autoría propia bailan juntos. En cada pliego, el texto acompaña a la ilustración y viceversa. El álbum se organiza en 24 páginas de 250 x 200 mm proyectado en horizontal. Este proyecto se ha desarrollado en varias etapas cuya base ha sido la exploración y la búsqueda. Se ha realizado una intensa experimentación con la escritura y sobre todo con el dibujo, empleando para las ilustraciones finales mancha de acuarela y línea de tinta. El resultado final es una obra artística, íntima y emocional; que narra como los sentimientos nos atraviesan, mientras tomamos café un domingo mirando por la ventana, llevándonos al pasado y devolviéndonos al presente.

On Sundays, our inner world is unsettled, melancholy bites us and we try to rearrange the furniture. They are the prelude for the week to start anew. They are sad as much as they are necessary. In a sense, Sundays make up their own space, a journey to our memory. I’ve poured this journey into an illustrated album in which my own handwriting and drawings waltz together. In each page, the text accompanies the illustration and vice versa. The album is organized into 24 250 x 200 mm landscape pages and presented in digital format ready for print production. The project has been developed in four stages based on exploration and search. In the Seeds stage, a thorough experimentation has been carried out using both written and drawing formats; watery techniques have been the choice to compose the illustrations with ink line and watercolor wash, which represent an indispensable visual metaphor to accompany the writing. In the Soul stage, the final text and illustrations, as well as the cover, have been defined. In the Roots stage, the final layout has been designed and the project presentation has been defined. In the Wings stage, the project finally takes flight and is shared to the public eye. The result is an artistic, intimate and emotional work composed visually and physically thanks to the knowledge acquired during the Digital Design and Creation degree. The project narrates how feelings pierce us to the core in very common situations, like having a coffee while looking out the window any given Sunday, which takes us back to the past and brings us to the present.
