Género y ruralidad: Estudio de las particularidades del entorno que inciden en la desigualdad

Abstract

Vivimos en una sociedad en la que la igualdad de género es teórica (baste el ingente número de leyes que la tratan). La realidad, sin embargo, nos muestra que el Derecho es un constructo androcentrista (Favila, 2020) y al asentarse la estructura jurídica en la costumbre –no exenta de historia– obtenemos como indica Ribas (2015, citado en Favila, 2020) un Derecho producto de nuestra sociedad y cultura. Ocurre de igual modo con el género, la ciencia, la economía, la historia… con lo cual observamos cómo las reminiscencias del patriarcado (Gerner, 1985) y su efectividad ideológica se naturalizan y son propagadas a través de diferentes instrumentos como la política, la educación o los medios de comunicación (Prieto, 2018). Necesitamos una manera diferente de entender el mundo que deje atrás la lógica patriarcal deconstruyendo quiénes hemos sido para entender quiénes podemos llegar a ser. (Herreros, 2017). Nuestro objetivo es analizar el alcance real de la igualdad de género en un entorno específico, el rural –narrado por sus propias mujeres– para encontrar los diferentes ejes de desigualdad que afectan a la mujer rural utilizando la perspectiva cualitativa (entrevistas semiestructuradas y un cuestionario de preguntas abiertas) y amparándonos en el marco teórico del construccionismo social. Intentaremos recabar conocimientos que nos permitan mejorar las redes femeninas de apoyo social y fomentar el empoderamiento femenino y la expansión de la igualdad efectiva entre mujeres y hombres. Si bien el futuro del medio rural (Fernández, 2010) depende del papel otorgado a la mujer a través de unos servicios que le permitan un adecuado desarrollo personal y laboral, tras la realización de nuestra investigación hemos encontrado palpables desigualdades de género relacionadas con el mercado laboral (Torns y Recio, 2012) o el entramado social, que lejos de desaparecer se incrementan y transforman.

We live in a society in which gender equality is theoretical (just look at the huge number of laws that legislate on the subject). Reality, however, shows us that Law is an androcentist construct (Favila, 2020) and as the legal structure is based on custom - not exempt history - we obtain, as Ribas (2015, quoted in Favila, 2020) indicates, a Law that is a product of our society and culture. It happens in the same way with gender, science, economics, history... with which we observe how the reminiscences of patriarchy (Gerner, 1985) and its ideological effectiveness are naturalised and propagated through different instruments such as politics, education or the media (Prieto, 2018). We need a different way of understanding the world that leaves patriarchal logic behind, deconstructing who we have been in order to understand who we can become (Herreros, 2017). Our objective is to analyse the real scope of gender equality in a specific environment, the rural one -narrated by its own women- in order to find the different axes of inequality affecting rural women using a qualitative perspective (semi-structured interviews and a questionnaire of open questions) and under the theoretical framework of social constructionism. We will try to gather knowledge that will allow us to improve women's social support networks and promote female empowerment and the expansion of effective equality between women and men. Although the future of the rural areas (Fernández, 2010) depends on the role given to women through services that allow them an adequate personal and professional development, after carrying out our research we have found palpable gender inequalities related to the labour market (Torns and Recio, 2012) or the social fabric, which, far from disappearing, are increasing and transforming.
